Police officers from Radom have released dramatic footage in which they save the life of a newborn baby who suddenly stopped breathing.

On Wednesday (June 5), a passenger car stopped next to a police patrol car on Waryńskiego Street in Radom. The driver asked the officers for help.

"In the front seat sat a distressed woman holding a newborn baby and asked the police officers to save her child as it had stopped breathing," said the spokesperson for Voivodeship Police in Radom Katarzyna Kucharska.

One of the officers had placed second a month ago in the regional qualifications for the National Police Rescuer Championships in Advanced First Aid.

"The officer cleared the baby's airways and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. During its course, the baby started breathing," the spokesperson added.

Due to peak traffic hours on the streets of Radom, the officers decided to transport the child and mother to the hospital in a patrol car. Within minutes, the newborn was under the care of doctors. On the same day, the baby's father informed that the baby's condition was stable and there was no longer any threat to its health.

"The doctor who examined the newborn stated that it owes its life to the quick aid provided by the police officers," Kucharska said.
