Police in Kalisz detained, on Monday afternoon, a 53-year-old employee of a chicken farm in Zadowice (Greater Poland voivodeship), suspected of shooting dead 34-year-old owner of the business. Deputy Commissioner Maciej Święcichowski from the Greater Poland Police informed that the detained man would hear charges within 48 hours.
The spokesperson for the Voivodeship Police in Poznań, Deputy Inspector Andrzej Borowiak, informed that Krzysztof K. had been detained before 6pm at one of the streets in Kalisz. He was taken to a police remand centre in Kalisz.
Borowiak said that the information received in response to the suspect's image released earlier helped in finding him.
Maciej Święcichowski said that during the arrest the man had no dangerous objects or guns on him.
He added that the 53-year-old should hear charges within 48 hours. He also said that a request for temporary arrest would be issued.
According to the investigators, the detained man is connected to the case of fatal shooting of a chicken farm owner in Zadowice on Monday morning.
"We can confirm that there was an incident involving a firearm that led to the man's death. Initial finding indicate that it was a single shot in the head area," prosecutor Maciej Meler told TVN24 reporter.
The 34-year-old has recently bought the farm and moved in there with his family. The 53-year-old man was an employee of the farm and lived in one of its buildings.
