Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, currently on a visit to the United States, said in a tweet that "the Evil Empire has been reborn in the East". "Russian barbarians threaten not only Ukraine. They threaten all of Europe and the whole free world," he added. After meeting with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris yesterday in Washington on Wednesday (April 12) the prime minister visited Lockheed Martin Aeronautics site in Marietta, Georgia, as well as U.S. Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama.
"The Evil Empire has been reborn in the East. Russian barbarians threaten not only Ukraine. They threaten all of Europe and the whole free world," Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a tweet on Wednesday.
"This is no mere incident, no coincidence, no maniac’s impulse. Putin has been building his Evil Empire for 23 years, in preparation for this conflict. New Europe understands this. It is time that Old Europe understood it too," he stressed.
Visit to Lockheed Martin
On the second day of his visit to the United States, PM Morawiecki met with the board members of Lockheed Martin – the largest US armaments factory, PM's chancellery informed in a tweet. He was also presented with concern's flag aircraft: F-35 Lightning and C-130 Hercules.
"The purpose of this visit is to accelerate the delivery of US equipment to Poland. Poland has joined the elite of countries that will be able to use the world’s most modern fighter and combat jets," Morawiecki said at a press briefing.
The prime minister also said the long talks with Lockheed Martin board members were "very fruitful" and that he believed "the whole cooperation will be extended".
"We may be able to acquire missiles with extended range. Our security can be strengthened by cooperating with suppliers like this company," he added.
Morawiecki also praised Polish pilots who would soon be flying in Lockheed Martin's F-35 fighter jets.
"Polish pilots will receive their first F-35’s next year! Polish pilots are NATO’s elite and this is the best combat aircraft. It will ensure our security," he tweeted.
After the visit to Lockheed Martin, PM Morawiecki went to the Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama. There, he was greeted by the commander of the base and toured the halls where state-of-the-art Abrams tanks are produced.
"The strength of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is immense. It is the strongest alliance in the world which keeps us safe. But security is also measured by the amount of equipment," he said at a press briefing.
PM Morawiecki added that Europe's fundamental problem was a lack of munitions.
"Our program to build the proper forces is very important and can be strengthened by producing cores for super-modern munitions in Poland, which is what we are pushing for," he stressed.
"What is happening here in front of our eyes – the assembling of super-modern tanks – is a prelude. We have ordered 250 ultra-modern Abrams tanks and 116 modernised tanks," he added.
"This is a huge force that will defend the eastern part of Poland."
