Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Monday (May 15) at a press conference in Otwock he had "complete confidence" in both MOD chief Mariusz Błaszczak and the military. "We are in constant contact with our NATO allies," he said, commenting on the incident with a missile which had hit the ground near Bydgoszcz and the information chaos that followed.
Many questions to the government and Polish services have been asked in relation to the recently discovered remains of an unarmed missile which had fallen on the Polish territory in December 2022.
Poland's Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said last week that response procedures related to the found object had worked as they should up to the level of the Armed Forces Operational Commander, who had failed to inform him and appropriate services about an object that had appeared in the Polish airspace. Błaszczak also denied he had refused to order a search for the object.
PM: these kinds of things happen all over Europe
At a press conference in Otwock on Monday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was asked about the conflict between the defence ministry and the military. "I have complete confidence in both Deputy Prime Minister Mr Mariusz Błaszczak and the military. Unfortunately, these kinds of things happen all over Europe, also in that (Europe - edit.) far away from the frontline in Ukraine, they do happen," he said. "We are in constant contact with our NATO allies and we are responding the way we should," Morawiecki reassured.
The prime minister also stressed that "there is no conflict between the MOD and the army". "If there were some differences in opinions, then I'm sure they have already been explained or will be explained soon. We are all duty bound to care for Poland's security in the best possible way, including the Ministry of National Defence and Polish Armed Forces," he added.
