Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Thursday commented on a report by TVN24's "Czarno na białym" on donations to his election campaign, made by his associates hired in state-owned companies. "It's fake news created by some TV stations, which is later spinned by the media only to be played out and commented on," he said, adding that the National Electoral Commission had approved PiS's campaign declaration "with no reservations".
"Czarno na białym" programme ran a report by Dariusz Kubik (TVN24) and Grzegorz Łakomski (tvn24.pl) on Wednesday, in which they reveal confirmed bank transfers made to Mateusz Morawiecki's 2019 electoral campaign, made by people from a so-called "Morawiecki's list" - that is people associated with the prime minister, working in state treasury companies.
The reporters point out that, by default, anyone has the right to donate campaign of any party. The only condition being it is done voluntarily. However, when donations are made by employees of companies subordinate to the government, questions start to appear.
Morawiecki: it's fake news
The head of the government was asked for comment on Thursday. He said it was difficult for him to comment on "fake news created by some TV stations, which is later spinned by the media only to be played out and commented on".
"I can only say this much that the National Electoral Commission has approved PiS's campaign declaration with no reservations," he said.
"I'm grateful to all those who have trusted me, who see hope in the Law and Justice government and my humble self, as well as the betterment of the situation in our country. I think that if we look at what has happened in the last six years, the difference is plain to see," the prime minister added.
