Polish paramedics trade union staged protest in many major cities demanding increase in salaries and changes to the law on medical rescue. Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska promised the wages of paramedics would not be decreased.
Polish paramedics staged protests in Warsaw and other major cities demanding better salaries and legislative changes.
The Act on the State Medical Rescue Service, amended by President Duda earlier in June, determines the minimum wage of employees. Paramedics are concerned that the recent changes will result in their lower income.
After the protest, the paramedics union met with Health Ministry representatives to discuss the problem.
"On behalf of the Health Ministry I've made sure that wages for medical rescuers will not lower than those of 30 June, 2021" - Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska said after the talks.
He also reassured that no medical rescue station would lower the wages of paramedics.
