Polish novelist Olga Tokarczuk and translator Antonia Lloyd-Jones have been shortlisted on Tuesday for the 2019 Man Booker International Prize for the British version of the book "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead".
Last year, Tokarczuk received the International Man Booker Prize for her book "Flights" (original Polish title "Bieguni") translated by Jennifer Croft.
The six nominees were chosen on Tuesday from the thirteen names that were selected in March. The winners will be announced during the official gala on the 21st of May in London.
Since 2016, the award has been given annually to a single book in English translation, with a £50,000 prize for the winning title, shared equally between author and translator.
The International Prize, which has been running since 2005, is the counterpart to the Booker Prize, which is awarded for books originally written in English.
