Poland will cooperate with Australia in the field of security. Minister of Defense's visit is a first step towards signing a defense cooperation agreement between both countries in the future - Polish Ministry of Defense (MON) informed on Wednesday. The ministry added that no decisions have been made regarding Poland's purchase of Australian Adelaide-class frigates.
"Minister Błaszczak's talks with Australian ministers of defense and defense industry have strenghtened mutual defense cooperation and is a first step towards signing an agreement in this field between both countries in the future," reads the statement issued by MON on Wednesday.
The ministry informed that the talks mainly pertained global security, military training, cybersecurity and long-term military cooperation.
The statement underscores that "the Ministry of Defense informed on many occasions that no decisions regarding purchase of Adelaide-class frigates have not been made.
"The Ministry of Defense consistently sticks to the policy, according to which information regarding purchase of any military equipment for the Polish army is released only after the negotiations are concluded," MON wrote in a statement.
The ministry emphasised that it is not resigning from any of the announced plans of modernising Polish military equipment.
