Fifty-five-year-old resident of Majdan Królewski borough near Kolbuszowa (Subcarpathian voivodeship) has buried his dog alive. The animal survived and the man was detained by the police - Kolbuszowa police department informed.
As the police informed, the dog was buried in a forest in Huta Komorowska. Information provided by local residents and on the internet helped to determine the identity of the dog's owner.
"The animal was buried alive. Thanks to a reaction of a passerby who heard yelping coming from beneath the ground, the dog was rescued," the police said.
Local residents and internet users reacted to the incident and helped to determine and locate the dog's owner. He was detained on Thursday morning. The man was drunk - he had over 2.5 blood alcohol content.
"During the initial questioning, he admitted that the dog belonged to him. He said that he had buried it because it was struck by a car and he thought it was dead," the police informed.
The man will be questioned once he has sobered up. An inquiry into the incident has been launched.
