The government will help those farmers who suffered losses this year due to drought, hurricanes, hailstorms, heavy rain, spring frost or floods - the Government Information Centre (CIR) announed on Tuesday. Farmers who lost more than 70 percent of their overall output will receive 1.000-zloty subsidy per each hectare.
"The Council of Ministers has made a decision to establish a support programme for farmers and agricultural producers, who suffered losses in 2019 caused by drought, hurricanes, hailstorms, heavy rain, spring frost or floods," the CIR informed on Tuesday.
It was added that the cabinet would adopt a resolution regarding the overall sum of money earmarked for fight against drought in the coming days, after more detailed information regarding estimated losses in particular municipalities has been sent by the voivodes.
"Farmers whose losses encompassed at least 30 percent of their crops will be entitled to receive subsidies. Those who lost more than 70 percent of their overall output will receive 1.000-zloty subsidy per each hectare," reads the communique by the CIR.
The first subsidies will be paid out in September, 2019.
