Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said on Tuesday that a visit by U.S. President Joe Biden to Poland "seems very much probable", PAP news agency reported.
Although he said there was specific information on a visit, he added: "It is hard to imagine a better place to mark the position of the United States and the alliance as a whole than the strongest link on the eastern flank, which is Poland."
Biden's visit to Poland "seems very much probable", he said.
An EU official said Biden would "in all likelihood" join a summit of the European Union's 27 leaders in Brussels on March 24 to discuss the conflict in Ukraine.
Sources told Reuters on Monday that Biden was expected to join leaders of NATO nations in Brussels on March 23 to discuss the war triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine last month.
The headquarters of both the EU and NATO are in Brussels.
Nearly three weeks into the war, the number of Ukrainians fleeing abroad approached 3 million on Tuesday, the United Nations said, as people escaped fighting and Russian bombardment.
About 2.97 million people have so far left Ukraine, data from the U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR) showed. It is basing its aid plans on 4 million refugees but has said the figure will likely increase.
