81 percent of respondents said that "bishops should face consequences" for paedophilia scandal within the Polish Church, according to a phone survey by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. The pollster also asked if a special commission, independent from the Church, should be set up to investigate the sex abuse scandal.
In a phone survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 respondents were asked about their opinion on Polish bishops' responsibility for paedophilia scandal within the Polish Church.
According to 81 percent of those asked, "bishops should face consequences", whereas 12 percent claim exatcly the opposite.
The answer "don't know/hard to say" was picked by 7 percent.
In another question, the respondents were asked if a committee, independent from the clergy, should be set up to investigate the paedophilia scandal within the Church. 84 percent of those asked were in favour of setting up an independent commission, of which 61 percent chose "definitely yes" answer and 23 percent - "rather yes". The opposite opinion was expressed by 11 percent of respondents, of which 7 percent said "rather no" and 4 percent - "definitely no".
The "don't know/hard to say" option was picked by 5 percent.
The phone survey for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 was conducted between 22 and 23 of May 2019 on a nationwide, representative sample of respondents aged over 18. The sample involved 1002 people.
