Polish Border Guard from Podlasie spotted a dog entering the territory of Poland from Belarus. "He had a collar, a leash, (and) reacted very positively to uniforms," said Michał Bura, a border guard officer. As the Belarusian side said that they weren't missing any dogs, the Polish guards adopted the German Shepherd and even managed to find it a new home.
In late April, officers from Podlaski Border Guard Regional Unit found a German Shepherd at the Polish-Belarusian border. They said the dog had come to Poland from Belarus.
Officer Michał Bura of the Podlasie unit told TVN24 jokingly that the dog had "illegally crossed the Polish border". He added the canine was approximately 18 months old. It was taken to a vet and chipped. "The dog had a collar, a leash, (and) reacted very positively to uniforms," the officer said.
New home already found
Polish Border Guard asked the Belarusian side if they had a dog missing, but they replied they did not.
Bura added the guards have already managed to find a new home for the dog. He added that a female border guard officer came forward and said she would adopt the animal.
