Polish Border Guard informed it recorded "a few more cases of aggressive behaviour" at the Polish-Belarusian border over the weekend. The service also published a video shot in the state of emergency area. Journalists were refused access to the footage.
Polish Border Guard on Tuesday published a video on Twitter, showing people standing on the Belarusian side of the border. These people are casting heavy tree branches, among other things, at a Border Guard vehicle.
"Last weekend at the Polish-Belarusian border we recorded a few more cases of aggressive behaviour of migrants against SG officers (Border Guard), Polish Army soldiers, and police officers," the Border Guard informed, adding that no one was hurt and only one vehicle got damaged.
The police press office said on Tuesday that several dozens of officers were dispatched the previous night to help soldiers attacked by a large group of migrants from Belarusian territory.
According to the police, Border Guard officers also arrived at the scene. "The aggressors threw stones at the soldiers and officers. Seeing more police cars arriving, they got into Belarusian trucks and drove away. During this attack, police radios and telephones were disrupted. Apart from having scratches on their helmets, none of the officers were injured," the police said.
Since the beginning of 2021, the Border Guard has reported over 29,000 illegal attempts to cross the Polish-Belarusian border, of which approx. 17,300 in October alone, nearly 7,700 in September, and over 3,500 in August.
