Young people in Warsaw and 20 other major Polish cities take part in the Youth Strike for Climate on Friday. They warn against climate change consequences and demand "just energy transition". Similar demonstrations are held in other countries as well.
The strike in Warsaw was covered by tvnwarszawa.pl reporter Mateusz Szmelter. "The protesters are gathering in the street in front of the National Theatre. More and more groups are joining in," he said after 11 a.m.
The participants marched through Senatorska street towards the Presidential Palace at Krakowskie Przedmieście, and then to Plac Bankowy.
The strike is has also been organised in 20 other major cities in Poland. Hundreds have gathered in Wrocław and Poznań.
Young people call upon politicians for a joint action in the face of the changing climate.
"Climate crisis is a crisis of human rights. It is a community crisis. Only #handinhand we can make our common future safe, green and just. We demand an immediate, just energy transformation. This year we strike in 21 cities in Poland" - we read in a Facebook post announcing the event.
