The meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Mayor of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz will take place on Tuesday (June 11) at 1.30 pm in the PM's chancellery - informed the new spokesperson for the government Piotr Mueller. He stressed that it was the prime minister who extented the invitation. "I have accepted Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's invitation," Dulkiewicz replied on Twitter. "I'm looking forward to our meeting," she added.
The meeting is a result of a situation that took place on Monday in Gdańsk.
At a morning press conference, mayor Dulkiewicz announced that she would be trying to welcome the prime minister and to invite him for the Round Table debate. After the conference she approached PM Morawiecki who was walking towards the BHP hall.
"Good day to you Mr Prime Minister, I'd like to sincerely welcome you in Gdańsk. Thank you for attending the Celebration of Freedom and Solidarity. Please join us at the Round Table," said the Gdańsk mayor to the prime minister walking by surrounded by his security detail.
The invitation remained unanswered and mayor Dulkiewicz wasn't allowed to come closer to the prime minister.
"See you on Tuesday!"
Morawiecki referred to the aforementioned situation on Tuesday. He admitted that he only noticed Dulkiewicz in the vary last moment. He said in Polsat News that he would want them both to treat each other with respect. "We represent very serious offices and such bothering, such happenings in the street don't suit the mayor," he said.
"I sincerely invite the mayor for a coffee to the chancellery, to my place. I would only like to ask her not to bring cameras with her, so that our conversation could be very serious," Morawiecki underscored.
On Wednesday, Dulkiewicz replied to the invitation. "I have accepted Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's invitation. See you on Tuesday! Thank you and I'm looking forward to our meeting as we have important issues for Gdańsk and Poland," she wrote on Twitter.
The meeting between the prime minister and mayor of Gdańsk is scheduled for Tuesday (June 11) at 1.30 pm in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw - government's newly appointed spokesperson Piotr Mueller informed on Wednesday.
