The greatest danger is not in aircraft, but cruise missiles and drones. The Polish Armed Forces have the right, effective weapon to protect Polish skies from this kind of dangers - Poland's Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Thursday (June 22) in Ustka. The minister observed combat-experimental missile firings with the use of Mała Narew air defence system.
Poland's MOD chief on Thursday watched combat-experimental missile firings with the use of the OPL Mała Narew air defense system. The practice was held at the Air Force Central Proving Range in Ustka.
"Real soon, even by the end of this month, the soldiers who have today demonstrated their skills will begin Poland's anti-aircraft and anti-missile defence duty using this modern equipment," Błaszczak said.
He added that Poland reached "a record-breaking solution, when it comes to how short it took us to achieve these skills". "Today we saw firing which proved how effective our soldiers have been trained, and already in June these systems will be used on duty and protect Polish skies from potential attacks with the use of either cruise missiles or drones," the minister explained.
Błaszczak reminded the contract on the purchase of Mała Narew had been signed in April 2022. The deal, worth over 16.5 billion zlotys, was signed between the defence ministry and PGZ-Narew. The first delivery was made in October 2022.
The CAMM missile's capabilities are entirely different from the Post-Soviet systems when it comes to engaging maneuvering, low-flying threats.
The practice in Ustka was the first launch of a multi-channel SAM system capable of attacking multiple threats at once, with a range exceeding 10 kilometers.
