Russia's Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev informed that all Russian diplomats who had been expelled from Poland have left this country's territory, Poland's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Łukasz Jasina informed on Monday.
Poland's MFA spokesperson Łukasz Jasina informed last Wednesday (March 23) that Russian diplomats and embassy staff had been ordered to leave Polish territory within five days. The request to expel 45 members of Russian diplomatic personnel had been issued by the Internal Security Agency (ABW). The agency argued that said persons had been running intelligence activity in Poland under a diplomatic guise.
On Monday (March 28), Jasina informed that all Russian diplomats who had been ordered to leave the Polish territory have already done so. The MFA spokesperson added that he was waiting for information from the Polish Embassy in Moscow, regarding possible expulsion of Polish diplomats in retaliation.
Poland's special services minister-coordinator spokesperson Stanisław Żaryn explained that the expelled persons were officers of Russian services and their associates, who had held the official diplomatic status.
Polish MFA summoned Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreyev on March 23. Upon leaving the ministry, he told reporters that he had been informed about Poland's decision to expel Russian diplomats. He argued that in his opinion, there had been no grounds for such move and announced that Russia would retaliate.
