Krzysztof Krawczyk has died. He was a legendary figure of the Polish music scene. The famous baritone singer will be long-remembered for hits such as "Parostatek", "Jak minął dzień", and "Rysunek na szkle". In recent weeks, he went through COVID-19. After two weeks in, he left the hospital on Saturday.
"Krzysztof Krawczyk was taken to a hospital on Monday after suddenly fainting. He died in the afternoon hours" - his friend and manager Andrzej Kosmala told TVN24. He added he had learned about his passing from the artist's family.
Kosmala also placed a short post on Facebook. "Krzysztof Krawczyk has died. R.I.P." - he wrote.
Krzysztof Krawczyk was one of the most-recognisable baritones in Poland. Between 1963 and 1973, and later also in 1976, he was the lead singer of the band Trubadurzy (The Troubadours). He lunched his solo career in 1973, during which he sang throughout Poland and in many places around the world.
Krzysztof Krawczyk was inspired with pop, blues, soul, jazz, rock and roll, as well as country music. He released over 40 albums.
"Parostatek" (The steamship), "Jak minął dzień" (How was your day), "Rysunek na szkle" (Glass painting) and "Trudno tak" (It's so hard) - recorded together with Edyta Bartosiewicz - were among his best known hits.
On Saturday the singer informed he had left the hospital and returned home after treatment he received after contracting coronavirus. He thanked the fans for prayer i wishes. "Let's not give in to the virus" - he appealed.
On March 23, Krawczyk informed he had been taken to a hospital. There he spent nearly two weeks. "Unfortunately, COVID has got me too" - he wrote and added: "I have to take up a fight, yet another one in my life". From his hospital bed he asked his fans for prayer. "I'll let you know, as soon as I get better!" - he promised.
