The Ministry of Digital Affairs has released the latest report on the most popular names for babies in the first half of 2020. There is a new leader at the top of the female names list.
Julia was the most popular name given to baby girls in the first half of 2020. The previous leader - Zuzanna - dropped to second place, yet the gap between the two names was very narrow.
Amelia landed outside the top 10 and was replaced by Laura. There was no change in the top four of the boys list - Antoni remains number one, ahead of Jan and Jakub.
According to the ministry's ranking, among the least popular names there were Rebeka, Lotta and Soraja, as well as Zbyszek, Tymur and Platon.
The ministry also reminded that when choosing a name for our children we should not pick any ridiculing ones. Furthermore, the name should be compatible with child's sex. The registry office might refuse to accept any name choice that doesn't match the above requirements.
