"We need to do everything we can for the United States to restore its leadership position in the world or we might be faced with a real world disaster," said Poland's former president Lech Wałęsa in the U.S. Congress on Wednesday. He visited Washington 30 years after his legendary "We the People" address from 15 November 1989. "Unless the United States don't want to lead the world anymore, then let them hand the business over to Poland, we will know to handle it," Wałęsa added.
Lech Wałęsa went to Washington with a few days visit, in order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of systemic transformation in Poland.
This wasn't the first time when Wałęsa addressed the U.S. Congress. On the 15th of November, 1989, the leader of Solidarność trade union gave his legendary speech in front joined houses of the Congress, which he began with the first words of the American Constitution: "We the People".
