Stage and film actor Wiesław Gołas has died at the age of 90. He starred in TV series including "Four Tank-Men and a Dog" and "Czterdziestolatek" (A 40-Year-Old).
On October 9, 2020, Wiesław Gołas turned 90. "I didn't expect such serious age fo myself, but as they decided so in heaven, I'm not going to protest," he told Polish Press agency at the time.
A few days later, the actor suffered a stroke. Four months later, Maria Krawczyk-Gołas said her husband was feeling good, but had problems with speech. On September 4, the actor was taken to a hospital after suffering another stroke. Emergency service took him to a home for veteran home actors in Skolimów.
Wiesław Gołas was born in 1930 in Kielce. In 1943 he joined "Grey Ranks", under nom de guerre Wilk (Wolf). He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1944.
In 1954 he graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. His stage debut took place in Teatr Dolnośląski in Wrocław. Between 1955 and 1985 he played at Teatr Dramatyczny, and later on, until 1992, at Teatr Polski. He was a member of Kabaret Starszych Panów (Elderly Gentlemen's Cabaret) and Kabaret Dudek.
Gołas played over 120 film, theatre and TV roles, including "Szkice węglem", "Dezerter", "Man - Woman Wanted", "The Deluge" and "The Doll", as well as TV series: "Alternatywy 4", "Four Tank-Men and a Dog" and "Czterdziestolatek" (A 40-year-old).
He was performed a famous song "W Polskę idziemy" (In Poland We Go).
Among the award he received was the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, as well as the Bronze Medal of Merit for National Defence.
In 2020, Wiesław Gołas received an annual award from the Culture Ministry for lifetime achievement.
