Sasin: Kaczyński very likely to join cabinet as deputy PM

On Saturday, the leaders of the United Right alliance parties - Jarosław Kaczyński, Zbigniew Ziobro and Jarosław Gowin - signed a new coalition agreement. Its contents, however, have not been made public yet. The new deal is a result of lengthy negotiations between the three political parties that went for weeks.

Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin said in TVN24 on Tuesday that "the government's composition is still being discussed", and on Tuesday the coalition leadership would "finally green-light the new cabinet".

"As Law and Justice, we've accepted the composition of the new cabinet, also in terms of staff, as well as in terms of the number of deputy prime ministers" - he explained.

Sasin did not give any straight answers when asked about members of the new cabinet. Asked if it was possible that there would be four deputy PMs: Jarosław Kaczyński, Jarosław Gowin, Jacek Sasin and Piotr Gliński, he replied: "It's very likely it will be so".

Jarosław Kaczyński entering the government - Sasin added - "is a highly likely and a very good scenario".

"If it finally turns out this way, that chairman Kaczyński will join the government, then it will be very good news as it would mean the leaders of three parties forming the United Right would be in the cabinet. This would mean a cumulation of talents, decision-making potentials, and that's what we were looking for" - he added.

Sasin admitted that he enjoyed his role as deputy PM. "It may sound well, but it's not about feeling excited with titles. The ministry you run is key" - he said.

He also said that the number of ministries would be reduced. "Everything seems to suggest that there will be 14 of them. Ultimately 14, as some legislative changes need to made" - Sasin explained.
