First, a city tram passed and right after one rail popped out of the concrete and arched. The video recorded by a camera from a car that stood on Jagiellońska street in Bydgoszcz shows that one second was enough for the tracks to become impassable. High temperature was the reason behind this rare indicent. The ground could have been as hot as 40 degrees.
The rail bent on Tuesday afternoon. "It was the first such accident in years," says Krzysztof Kosiedowski, the spokesman for the City Road and Public Transport Management in Budgoszcz.
"It's very hot in the city, the temperature can over 30 degrees, even 40 down on the ground and even more on the tracks.
The trackage has been already fixed.
At Kontakt 24 platform we received two photos showing the bent rail sticking out of the road.
