The European Commission has approved Poland's second and third payment requests from the National Recovery Plan (KPO) amounting to 40 billion PLN, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced on X on Tuesday (November 12). She added that two more payment requests are set to be submitted by the end of the year.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz stated that, as planned, 10 billion PLN will be invested in Polish offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, 7.4 billion PLN in railway renovations and new trains, and another 4.7 billion PLN in oncology hospitals and elderly care facilities.
Additionally, 3 billion PLN will be allocated to home insulation and furnace replacement, 2.1 billion PLN to buses, and 1.5 billion PLN to high-speed internet infrastructure.
The minister noted that the fourth and fifth payment requests from the KPO are planned to be submitted by Poland at the end of 2024.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz emphasized that the approval of these funds aligns with Poland’s strategic goals to boost economic resilience and sustainable development. The investments are aimed at enhancing green energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and digital connectivity, areas identified as critical in Poland's National Recovery Plan to support long-term growth and climate goals.
The minister also highlighted the potential impact of these funds on creating jobs, advancing Poland’s transition to a low-carbon economy, and improving public services. According to her, the allocation for healthcare, including oncology hospitals and elderly care, reflects a priority on strengthening the healthcare system to meet growing demands.
Looking ahead, the fourth and fifth payment requests are expected to advance similar projects, further contributing to Poland’s post-pandemic recovery and modernization.
