Heavy rain and storms caused flooding in southern Poland on Wednesday (May 22) a day after a tornado tore through the eastern village of Stasin.
Residents were evacuated from their homes as rivers swelled and local firefighters were deployed to tackle rising water levels.
Over 2,000 firefighters from 200 brigades are involved in the operations according to Marek Bębenek, the Regional Commander of the State Fire Service of the southern Lesser Poland region.
The flooding comes as residents in Stasin begin the clean-up after buildings were destroyed and trees torn down when the village was hit by a tornado on Tuesday (May 21).
Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with residents and emergency services personnel to survey the damage.
Grzegorz Wiński, the head of Lublin Voivodeship's Regional Crisis Management Centre, said troops had been deployed to assist with clearing fallen trees and securing damaged buildings.
He added that restoring electricity to residents was their top priority.
The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued the highest flood warning level throughout south-eastern Poland as heavy rain is expected to continue there for the next 72 hours.
