Until 8 pm on Monday, the State Fire Service recorded 5794 reports pertaining to damage caused by weather, especially by strong wind - the spokesman for the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, Senior Brigadier Paweł Frątczak informed on Monday.
Frątczak said that most reports came from the following Voivodeships: Greater Poland - 930, Łódź - 743, Silesian - 620, Lower Silesian - 608 and Masovian - 528.
As a result of the strong wind, one person died and eight were injured, including two firemen. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued alerts for most parts of Poland. Second degree alerts were issued for eight voivodeships and the seaside: Greater Poland, Łódź, Świętokrzyskie, Subcarpathia, Lesser Poland, Silesia, southern and central counties of Masovia and Lublin region, as well as northern counties of Pomerania and West Pomerania.
For the remaining regions, first degree alerts were issued, however the IMGW does not exclude the possibility of raising the warning for the Lower Silesia. Such change is likely to occur in the western and central parts of the voivodeship. The alerts for Lubusz region were called off.
