A small plane crashed on the runway at Warsaw-Modlin airport. Luckily, no one got hurt

A small training aircraft crashed at Warsaw-Modlin airport. There were no casualties or only some interruptions for passegers. We received the first information at Kontakt 24.

"Accident at Warsaw-Modlin airport. A katana aircraft [Diamond DV-20 Katana] crashed on the runway, no one got hurt," wrote Kontakt 24 reader.

Sylwia Ochmańska from Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki police confirmed the accident. "We received the information about 2.30 pm," she said briefly.

She added that police and fire service were working at the scene. The State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation was notified about the crash.

Andrzej Mazurowski, the spokesperson for the Modlin airport, confirmed that no one was hurt in the accident. After 3 pm he informed that planes were being redirected to Warsaw-Chopin airport.

From the moment of the crash no planes took off from the runway. Four planes that were supposed to land in Modlin were redirected to Chopin airport (from Amman, Korfu, London Stansted and Naples).

Right before 4 pm, the first plane was allowed to land - from Paris.
