"This is a huge contract, a gigantic contract worth 1.32 billion zloty for the Polish defense industry," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said during the signing of the agreement for the delivery of support vehicles for the LANGUSTA self-propelled multiple rocket launchers.
On Friday, November 8, an agreement was signed at the Ministry of National Defense headquarters for the delivery of support vehicles for the WR-40 LANGUSTA multiple rocket launchers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that these launchers, which have been purchased by the Polish Army for several years, perform very well.
"But in order for these rocket launchers to be fully utilized, for their effectiveness on the battlefield to be fully leveraged, they need to have support vehicles," the minister stressed.
The Minister explained that the support vehicles would be used by command staff for operations but also for transporting ammunition. "In all these areas, this transport security is necessary," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
MOD chief: it's crucial to invest in the Polish industry
"This is a huge contract, a gigantic contract worth 1.32 billion złoty for the Polish defense industry... And I am very pleased that the Polish Armaments Group is carrying out this contract," he added.
The minister noted that he could not provide information on the number of support vehicles to be delivered, explaining that this was sensitive information. "But the total value of the contract indicates that we will meet the Polish Army's needs," he said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out that the signed agreement is so important because "the system of interconnected vessels will only function if all elements of the state's defense cooperate and coexist." He emphasized that just as you cannot buy tanks without support vehicles, you cannot buy rocket launchers without technical vehicles.
The MOD chief announced that the ministry will carry out "as many orders as possible" because security and the economy are the key matters for which the ministry is responsible. "For us, it is the most important issue: modernizing the Polish economy and building Polish security," he assured.
"We will fulfill our obligations. We are diligently trying to carry out orders in accordance with the 50-50 principle. 50 percent of expenditures from the Ministry of National Defense for the Polish defense industry, and 50 percent of purchases from our allies. It is very important for us to invest in the Polish industry," added Kosiniak-Kamysz.
