The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) detained six individuals on Wednesday (November 27) in an investigation overseen by the prosecutor’s office, which has been ongoing for several years. Among those arrested is Wojciech O., former chairman of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and former minister of agriculture. The information was confirmed by tvn24.pl investigative journalist Robert Zieliński.
According to Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister Coordinating Special Services, the arrests took place in Warsaw, Radom, and Zgierz. Following the completion of procedural actions, the individuals will be transported to a branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice. No further details were provided at the time, as indicated by Dobrzyński's social media post shortly before 3 p.m. on the same day.
Investigative journalist Robert Zieliński from tvn24.pl discovered that one of the six individuals detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) is Wojciech O., former chairman of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and ex-minister of agriculture.
This was later confirmed by prosecutor Katarzyna Calów-Jaszewska from the National Prosecutor's Office, who added that the investigation concerns economic crimes.
The spokesperson for the National Prosecutor’s Office, Przemysław Nowak, mentioned that further details would be provided after procedural actions and the presentation of charges.
Zieliński further revealed that the case revolves around loans granted by Alior Bank to Henryk Kania's Meat Processing Plant when Wojciech O. was a manager at the bank.
