The Ministry of Health reported the third-highest daily spike in coronavirus infections in Poland since the start of the pandemic - 887 cases. Also, further 16 infected people have died. In total, 64,689 infection cases and 2,010 deaths have been confirmed so far.
In its Thursday's (August 27) report, the health ministry confirmed 887 new coronavirus infections. A quarter of those cases was reported in the southern province of Lesser Poland.
The ministry also informed about the death of 16 infected persons, most of whom had co-occurring medical conditions.
Thursday's count was higher than the ones on Wednesday and Tuesday, when 729 and 763 cases were reported respectively. This was the third-highest daily number of infections since the start of the pandemic.
The highest daily spike in infections was recorded on Friday, August 21, when 903 cases were reported across Poland. The next day, on Saturday, 900 cases followed.

In the last 8 days - August 20-27 - the health ministry informed about a total of 6,078 infection cases:
- August 27 - 887 (28,200 tests were performed)
