The Ministry of Health informed on Wednesday about 729 new cases of coronavirus infection, and the death of 17 patients. Since the start of the pandemic (March 20), Poland has reported 63,802 infections and 1,994 deaths.
In Wednesday's report, the health ministry informed about 729 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Poland. The highest number of cases was reported in the Lesser Poland province.
The numbers in the remaining provinces look as follows: Silesian (114), Masovian (106), Greater Poland (94), Pomeranian (60), Subcarpathian (49), Łódzkie (34), Warmian-Masurian (24), Kuyavian-Pomeranian (23), Lubelskie (20), Świętokrzyskie (20), West Pomeranian (18), Opolskie (17), Lower Silesian (15), Podlaskie (13) and Lubuskie (4).
The Ministry of Health also informed about the death of 17 infected persons, aged between 50 and 91. Most of them suffered from co-occurring medical conditions. The previous day, on Tuesday, also 17 people had died, whereas on Monday - 5 people.
Today's number is lower than on Tuesday when 763 cases were reported, but higher than than the 548 cases from Monday.
The number of active infection cases is still on the rise. On Wednesday it was at 18,409 which was the highest number since the start of the pandemic on March 20.
The highest daily spike in infections was recorded on Friday, August 21. The ministry informed about 903 cases that day. The following day, on Saturday, there were 900 infections in Poland.
In total, Poland has reported 63,802 coronavirus infections, and deaths of 1,994 infected persons.
