A woman has been hit by a volvo on a marked pedestrian crossing. The accident in Lublin has been captured on the CCTV. The woman entered the crossing, looking at her phone. Before that she didn't check if cars were approaching. The video also shows that the driver of the volvo noticed the woman too late and attempted to avoid hitting her by swerving left.
The driver of a passenger volvo hit the woman on a pedestrian crosswalk on Lwowska street in Lublin shortly before 8pm.
"Luckily, the woman didn't sustain any serious injuries. The driver was sober. For creating danger in road traffic he was issued a 500-zloty ticket," said press officer from the Lublin City Police, Commissioner Kamil Gołębiowski.
She didn't look
The accident happened on a clearly marked and well-illuminated pedestrian crossing, a place where pedestrians are especially protected by the law.
"The video also shows that the woman didn't look right and left before entering the crossing. We must all remember that safety in traffic depends largely on whether or not we abide by the basic rules ourselves," Gołębiowski underscored.
