The 45-year-old father of the murdered 9-month-old Blanka from Olecko was released from custody on Monday. The prosecutor's office in Suwałki refused to provide any more details regarding the case.
The man suspected of murdering the child was questioned in the Suwałki prosecutor's office on Monday. In the afternoon a decision was made regarding his release from custody, which initially was supposed to last 3 months.
The attorney for the girl's mother, Adam Ramotowski said that the decision was made because new evidence in the case was discovered.
He also revealed that a third person was detained in connection to the case. As TVN24 reporter learned from an unofficial source, the police detained a male resident of Suwałki.
The 9-month-old girl died on the 22nd of June. The police detained both her parents. The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was internal haemmorrhage and brain damage. The girl has bruises on her head, chest and one of the lungs punctured by a broken rib. Most likely the girl was beaten with a blunt instrument. It's also possible that she was struck against the edge of a table. The child was also sexually abused.
A few days later, the court issued the arrest order for both parents. The prosecutor had earlier charged the two with murder and torture of an infant with extreme cruelty, as well as of sexual abuse of the girl. The 35- and 45-year-old pleaded not guilty. The girl was murdered three months after returning to her biological parents from a foster home.
