Regional Prosecutor's Office filed a request in court on Monday for an arrest for the man who had carried knives and tried to approach the participants of the Wrocław Equality March. He was charged with attempted assault on police officers. Furthermore, he was accused with terrorism offence.
On Saturday, before the Wrocław Equality March started, the police had detained a 41-year-old man who was heading towards Freedom Square, where the demonstration was gathering, shouting "Allah akbar" and other things. "His behaviour was irrational. Police officers stopped the man, incapacitated him and found two knives on him," the spokespeson for Lower Silesian Police, Krzysztof Zaporowski, informed on Saturday.
Prosecutor Krzysztof Umański said on Monday that, at first, the 41-year-old man had been charged with attempted assault on police officers. "The prosecutor decided, however, to extend the charges, after finding the man's actions to be a terrorist offence," Umański explained.
He also informed that the man had not admitted his guilt, but stated he was aware of committing crime. "During questioning, he explained his behaviour with personal problems," prosecutor Umański added.
The 41-year-old resident of Pomeranian Voivodeship has been recorded for committing crimes and offenses.
The prosecutor's office has filed a request in the court to temporarily arrest the man for three months.
