"A this point the manis charged with criminal threats. For that he may be facing up to 2 years in prison. It's too early to talk about possible arrest or different charges. The man needs to sober up and give his statement," Szarzyński told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
The wife of the mayor of Grudziądz is a sister of the murdered mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz. The city hall spokeswoman has referred to the tragic incident in Gdańsk in the Thursday's statement.
"Shortly after starting his mayoral tenure, moved by Paweł Adamowicz's death, Maciej Glamowski organised a meeting with the youth in Grudziądz, on the topic of hate in public sphere and social media. Unfortunately, it seems that this spiral of hate has no end. Continually, we encounter people who spread their hate and aggression. Sooner or later, their message lands on the fertile soil of madness or pure evil," reads the statement.
