Fire service intervened over 50 times in Lublin on Friday after a heavy storm went over the city. Some lower-located streets, parking lots, as well as a number of basements were flooded.
On Friday, storms and showers were moving through Lubelskie voivodeship. "In total, we received over 80 calls, of which 26 pertained to trees broken due to strong wind that were blocking local roads, while the rest were requests to pump out the water from flooded property. Most interventions were carried out in Lublin - over 50," said duty officer from Voivodeship Fire Service HQ in Lublin, Maciej Falandysz.
"Most requests to pump out the water from basements came from Czechów and Choiny districts, some of these operations are still underway. The water also flooded basements of houses at Związkowa street. Cars from the parking lot in front of Decathlon store at Spółdzielczości Pracy street as well," Falandysz informed.
"The water was gathering at lower-located fragments of streets, but it drained quickly as the downpour had been short," he added.
The drivers had troubles with passing through Andersa, Spółdzielczości Pracy, Walecznych, Morwowa and Związkowa streets.
"In the region, the storms passed through Biała Podlaska, Lubartów and Zamość. "The water flooded the basement of hospital in Bychawa, as well as of boarding school in Pszczela Wola," Falandysz said.
