A 25-year-old resident of Lower Silesia attempted to overtake on a dangerous bend in the rain. The effect? His car skidded into a ditch where it somersaulted, while the driver was catapulted off the car onto the other side of the road. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The accident took place at expressway number 329, between Jerzmanowa and Smardzów (Głogów County) on Saturday evening.
"A 25-year-old resident of Polkowice County, driving a 206 peugeot has lost control over his car, skidded off the road into a ditch," said Aspirant Łukasz Szuwikowski from Głogów Police.

The accident has been recorded on a dash cam of a car that followed the peugeot. The video has been sent on our Kontakt 24 platform.
"Everyone knows what this bend is like. Many accidents happened there. My wife sensed that he would end up in a ditch. The conditions were extremely difficult. It was drizzly, it was getting dark," Piotr, the author of the recording, told Kontakt 24.
Driver catapulted
The peugeot first overtook Piotr's car and then another car on a bend. It was going very fast when another vehicle appeared on the oncoming lane. The peugeot's driver tried to return onto his lane, lost control and the car skidded off the road into a ditch. There, his car somersaulted a few times. The video shows the driver being thrown up high in the air like he was catapulted.
The force was so huge that he flown over the road onto the other side. "We stopped and started to look for the man together with my wife. It turned out that he had flown outside the car through the boot. Before landing on the other side of the road, he also hit a road sign," said Piotr. He explained that he had decided to publish the dash cam footage to caution irresponsible drivers.
An ambulance was called. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The police said that he was sober in the moment of accident.
