Today, Poland should receive 380,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and 360,000 AstraZeneca shots - Poland's Strategic Reserves Agency head Michał Kuczmierowski said on Monday. He added that later this week some 200,000 doses of Moderna vaccine should also arrive in the country.
"We expect 380,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine to arrive on Monday morning. A delivery from AstraZeneca should also arrive, including an overdue transport from last Thursday and a regular one scheduled for today, a total of 360,000 doses" - Mr Kuczmierowski said. On Thursday, March 4, AstraZeneca cancelled a delivery of 62,000 doses.
The chief of RARS (Government Strategic Reserves Agency) added that the said deliveries would be distributed to vaccination points on Tuesday and Wednesday. "Pfizer shots will be used to vaccinate senior citizens, while AstraZeneca's to inoculate group zero".
Mr Kuczmierowski also informed that some 200,000 doses of Moderna vaccine should arrive in Poland later this week.
"Lower-than-expected deliveries of vaccines continue to be our biggest problem. We could be inoculating many more people each week. On top of that, late deliveries also complicate our actions, and so do differences in schedules" - he added.
"We trust the situation will change in the second quarter of 2021. We've also placed hope in Johnson&Johnson vaccine which should soon be approved by the European Medicines Agency" - Michał Kuczmierowski said.
