National Flag Day
Polish National Flag Day is a national holiday in Poland introduced by an act issued on 20 February 2004. The holiday is celebrated on the day between two national holidays: 1 May and 3rd of May.
On the same day, the Day of Polish Community Abroad is celebrated.
This date has another symbolic meaning, as on May 2, 1945, Polish soldiers raised the Polish flag at the Reichstag building in conquered Berlin.
The National Flag Day is celebrated mainly by displaying Polish national colours. Therefore on that day, and often through the whole May weekend, people put Polish flags in windows, on balconies or gardens. May 2 is also full of various events and patriotic manifestations.
