A passenger car with three teenagers fell into the river in Świnoujście (West Pomeranian voivodeship). One of them managed to swim out onto the shore. Two other died, despite resuscitation attempts.
The accident took place after 6 pm. The passenger car fell into the Świna river next to Pomorska street. Three people were inside the vehicle.
The spokesman for the voivodeship commander of State Fire Service, Tomasz Kubiak, told TVN24 that one person had managed to jump out of the car when it hit the water. That person was fully conscious.
He added that the other two teenagers had been under water for two hours. After they were taken out onto the shore, rescuers tried to resuscitate them. Despite the attempts, the teenagers died.
Kubiak said that, according to one account by witnesses, the teenagers had been drifting their car near the river. He added that the accident will be investigated by appropriate services.
At the scene, apart from the fire service, also present was the air rescue helicopter. The sea search and rescue services were also notified.
