Poland has been asked for help in moving produce, mainly grain, out of Ukraine, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Wednesday at a press conference in Borodyanka, Ukraine. He added that Poland was receiving EU funds to increase throughput and improve infrastructure. Morawiecki also said that "Poland will become an economic hub for independent Ukraine".

Morawiecki said at a press conference that Poland would take part in agricultular produce exports, mainly of grain, out of Ukraine. "Poland will become an economic hub for independent Ukraine and we will be trying to help already today," he said.
He added that Poland was also asked to increase throughput and improve infrastructure in order to facilitate transfer of grain and other goods to the Middle East, Africa and other places. Morawiecki mentioned that Poland was receiving funds from the EU for that purpose.
The prime minister also stressed that the question of moving grain out of Ukraine had been one of the key topics of discussion at the European Council summit on Monday and Tuesday. "It was topic number 2, right after war in Ukraine," he explained. "We're taking dozens of millions of tonnes of grain, approx. 50 million tonnes per year, whithout which North Africa, Middle East can have serious problems with providing food for their populations," Morawiecki said.
He also said that a number of interministerial agreements were weing prepared, "that on the one hand will help Ukraine, and on the other kick-start Polish economy".
The prime minister underscored that the crucial goal was to bring back peace in Ukraine. "We're focused on bringing peace, safety, normality and regular economic life as soon as possible," he added.
"It's important to stress that right now, here in Ukraine, history is in the making - not only of Europe, but also of the whole world. Because if Ukraine falls, nothing will ever be as used it used to be. Me must rebuild the political order so as to prevent Russia, and its so-called Russkiy mir, from posing threat to peace in other countries," Morawiecki said.
