Since the beginning of vacation period, 47 deadly accidents took place in Poland - according to an interactive map published on Wednesday by Polish police. 52 people lost their lives in these accidents.
According to Junior Inspector Radosław Kobryś from the Traffic Division of the Main Police Headquarters, since the beginning of vacation period until the 25th of June, 52 people died in road accidents and 731 were injured. In total, there were 620 accidents in that period. Only on Tuesday (June 25) 6 people died and 113 got injured.
"These numbers aren't optimistic, even though we might say that they look better than last year. There were 89 accidents less, in which 10 people less lost their lives and there were 124 less injured," Kobryś said.
"Numbers, tables or comparisons not always affect the imagination of drivers and pedestrians. That's why the police is presenting everyday the current statistics and location of all deadly accidents from the day before and overall since the start of the vacation period. Unfortunately, with each day the map will be less and less readable as more points are added everyday. Each point marks somebody's tragedy! - reads the caption before the presented map.
Police also underscores that accidents usually do not happen by chance, but due to irresponsible behaviour of drivers and pedestrians.
