Poland and Germany's foreign ministers emphasised their two countries' good bilateral relations on Thursday but both refused to budge on the issue of World War Two reparations.
Speaking to reporters after meeting his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Berlin, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said discussions about Poland demanding reparations from Germany were "part of our historic legacy."
Warsaw says Germany still owes it billions of euros in reparations for destroyed property and people killed during World War Two, but Maas on Thursday reiterated Berlin's rejection of those demands.
Whilst the ministers also emphasised the close ties between their countries, Czaputowicz said they were at odds over Nord Stream 2, a planned pipeline to bring gas from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
Germany has said it will not withdraw its political support for the project despite some lawmakers suggesting it should be curtailed to punish Moscow for its seizure of three Ukrainian ships and their crews in the Sea of Azov last month.
Polish President Andrzej Duda has said the pipeline should not be built because it would upset the "balance of energy".
