The Chairman of the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS), Leszek Mazur has scheduled the Council's session for 23, 25, 27 and 28 of August - the KRS informed in a statement on Wednesday. Judiciary Council's teams completed on Wednesday the hearings of candidates for the Supreme Court.
The KRS Chairman said at a press conference on Wednesday that regarding the chioce of Supreme Court's judges, the Council works outside the schedule prepared before holidays.
He added that in regards to the plenary session of the KRS devoted to choosing the Supreme Court judges "there were plans to hold it in early September, around 4th, however the interviewing teams have practically completed reviewing the candidates". From Monday to Wednesday, four teams of the National Council of the Judiciary interviewed the candidates for the Supreme Court. The first part of the KRS session aimed at selecting the Supreme Court judges, commencing on Thursday, will be devoted to filling the seats in the Disciplinary Chamber and Criminal Chamber, informed the KRS Chairman, Leszek Mazur.
As Mr Mazur said, the session will consist of two parts. The first will be held on Thursday and Friday and judges for the Supreme Court's Disciplinary Chamber and Criminal Chamber will be selected. "The Disciplinary Chamber needs to be filled first because of an urgent need, while the Criminal Chamber deals with naturally similar problematic aspects, as well as the number of candidates for this chamber is quite low - it's only four, maybe five people," the KRS Chairman explained. In the beginning of the next week, on Monday and Tuesday, the National Council of the Judiciary will convene to fill the seats in the other two chambers: Extraordinary Supervision and Civic, said Leszek Mazur.
