Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told a private TV broadcaster on Monday that in his opinion the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) "will either not issue a verdict or the ruling will be positive."
"We will probably not face a dilemma whether we are to respect the court's ruling regarding the questions asked by Poland's Supreme Court," Morawiecki said when asked if Poland could ignore the CJEU ruling.
The CJEU press service announced on Monday that the court had not yet taken any decisions concerning five question submitted by Poland's Supreme Court (SN) over recent legal amendments to the SN's functioning.
"There will be no such dilemma as we will probably not be standing before such a choice. We know that our actions are compatible with the Constitution and the law," the prime minister underlined.
"The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) will either not issue a verdict or the ruling will be positive. Even if it is not fully positive, we will reach agreement with the EU institutions. Our actions are compatible with the Constitution and with the law as far as the judicial reform is concerned," Morawiecki declared.
The PM also stressed that at the moment the CJEU had 52 proceedings regarding the non-application of its rulings by France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Spain, among other countries.
