A court in Piotrków Trybunalski decided on Monday that there will be no arrest for the famous journalist Kamil Durczok, for causing a road accident when driving under the influence of alcohol.
The request to remand the journalist was filed by the prosecutor's office in Piotrków Trybunalski. Durczok is also suspected of driving under influence.
After leaving the courtroom, the journalist admitted to driving under the influence and apologised to his family and relatives in a brief statement.
The accident took place last Friday (July 26) on A1 highway near Piotrków Trybunalski, central Poland. Fifty-one-year-old Kamil Durczok was driving his BMW towards Katowice. The car careened and ran over the plastic bollards that were placed there to separate the lanes. One of the bollards hit an oncoming car. No one was injured in the accident.
Later, it turnedout that the journalist had .26 percent breath alcohol content (BrAC).
He was taken to the police remand centre. On Sunday, he was taken to the prosecutor's office where he heard charges. The prosecutor also filed for arrest for Durczok. On Monday, the court rejected the arrest request.
