The District Court in Warsaw decided on Friday to re-open the trial against Kajetan P. suspected of a brutal murder of a woman in Warsaw. Further evidence needs to be examined in this trial - plenipotentiary of the auxiliary prosecutors Rafał Carko said.
The court scheduled next three sessions in this trial. The first one is set to take place on the 4th of October.
The District Court in Warsaw was expected to pass the verdict in the trial of Kajetan P. on Friday. However, the ruling was not handed down as the court decided that further evidence needs to be examined. Therefore, the trial needs to be reopened.
"It sometimes happens that the court decides last minute before the verdict to examine additional evidence," said attorney Carko.
He added that "it's important to us that the court passes the verdict based on the whole available evidence and all circumstances; beyond any doubts. Therefore, we can only wait for the new evidence being examined and the final verdict being passed".
We can assume hypothetically that if the court decided to reopen the hearing then, apparently, there's a reason for it," said the attorney for Kajetan P., Piotr Dałkowski. Both lawyers stressed that they couldn't reveal anything more as the trial is run behind closed doors.
Kajetan P. is facing 8 years to life in prison. His punishment may be extraordinarily commuted due to his mental condition. Court experts decided that the man committed the crime under diminished responsibility.
