U.S. President Joe Biden arrived in Warsaw on Friday shortly before 7 p.m. local time. From the Chopin Airport he went straight to Marriott Hotel in the centre of the city., where he will spend the night. Crowds of local residents gathered along the route of Biden's motorcade.
Joe Biden began his two-day visit to Poland on Friday afternoon in Rzeszów. The American leader was greeted by Poland's President Andrzej Duda and later on the two took part in a meeting with representatives of NGOs helping refugees from Ukraine. The presidents also met with soldiers: Biden shared a slice of pizza with soldiers from the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division; Duda - with the 18th Mechanized Division.
Later the U.S. president flew over to Warsaw. Due to his arrival, public transport and traffic along, and in the vicinity of, his planned route was put to a halt.
A tvnwarszawa.pl reporter, Tomasz Zieliński, was in front of Warsaw Marriott Hotel where Biden spends his night. "The motorcade has already arrived at the Marriott. Aleje Jerozolimskie remain closed, and so are the overpasses above. Pedestrians are also facing some difficulties. The area around the hotel has been cordoned-off with a red rope. Police cars have been lined up along the route to the airport," Zieliński reported.
"A lot of people have gathered along the route. Quite a huge crowd also amassed at the corner of Aleje Jerozolimskie and Emilii Plater. In the crowd there's really a lot of Ukrainians holding the blue-and-yellow flags," our reporter added.
