On Wednesday before noon, Prof. Jan Szyszko passed away, scientist, politician, but first and foremost a good and gentle Man, nature aficionado, for whom I had great sympathy and respect - President Andrzej Duda informed on Twitter on Wednesday. Jan Szyszko was 75 years old.
Jan Szyszko was born in 1944 in Stara Miłosna. He was an academic teacher, profesor of forestry, author of over 100 scientific publications on using natural and ecological resources. He was an MP in the last four terms.
His political career began in the end of the 1980s, when he was working, among other places, in the local government in Wesoła municipality near Warsaw. Since the early 1990s, he was an activist for Porozumienie Centrum (Centre Agreement - party founded by Jarosław Kaczyński). In 2001, he joined Law and Justice (PiS).
Jan Szyszko was the minister of environment in the Law and Justice cabinet from 16 November, 2015, until 9 January, 2018. He was in charge of this ministry three times which is the record.
